Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of nicemem — the web app, the REST API, and the MCP server (together, the “service”). By signing in or using the service, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, don’t use the service.

nicemem is a personal memory store: you save notes, snippets, links, and memories, and retrieve them later via the web, the API, or an LLM agent over MCP. The service is provided as-is and evolves over time — features may change, be added, or be removed.

You sign in with a Google account, and you’re responsible for what happens under yours. Keep your API keys secret: anyone holding a key can read and write your memories. If a key leaks, revoke it in settings immediately.

The memories you store are yours. We claim no ownership over them. You grant us only the limited rights needed to operate the service: storing your content, indexing it for search (including generating embeddings via our infrastructure providers), and returning it to you when you ask.

We never use your content for advertising, never sell it, and never use it to train machine-learning models.

Don’t use the service to store or distribute content that is illegal, that infringes someone else’s rights, or that you don’t have the right to hold. Don’t attempt to breach or probe the service’s security, access another user’s data, or place unreasonable load on the API. We may rate-limit, suspend, or terminate accounts that do.

We aim to keep the service reliable, but it is provided without an uptime guarantee. Back up anything you can’t afford to lose — the export API exists for exactly that.

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for loss of data or profits, arising from your use of the service.

You can stop using the service at any time and ask us to delete your account and data (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, and will make reasonable efforts to let you export your data first unless the violation prevents it.

We may update these terms as the service evolves. Material changes will be announced on this page with a new “last updated” date. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
